El Gato Negro, ‘the black cat’, is a multi-award winning tapas restaurant located on 52 King Street, Manchester. The fonder and chef patron, Simon Shaw previously operated as El Gato Negro in Ripponden but needed the restaurant to develop.

Ranked number one tapas bar by The Times and having been awarded a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin guide two years running, the development and restoration of 52 Kings Street proved to be the right decision.

The extensive cookline and ventilation canopy is on view from the restaurant and sits in equilibrium with the horizontal flow of the building form and restaurant décor.
